Vibe Magazine- Macro Analysis


Vibe magazine is a music magazine, which was founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones in New York City, US.   The production of Vibe magazine then shut down in summer of 2009 and was then purchased by InterMedia Partners and is now issued quarterly and has a large internet presence.

Vibe Lifestyle Network in the parent company of Vibe Magazine and Vibe.com. The network hosts 25 different websites and reaches and average of 15 million users per month. A few examples of the range of channels which they host include music, sports, lifestyle and fashion.

The target audience for vibe magazine is mainly the younger audience between the ages of 16- 34 years of age. The genre which the magazine focuses on is Hip Hop and R&B.

Vibe magazine has a consistency throughout every issue that they release. Although the color of the masthead often changes along with the general color theme the masthead is always aligned in the same position and with the same font and size. By having all this it enables the audience to become familiar with the magazine and their usual image. This then allows the magazine to become more creative with their front covers without worrying that they are covering the masthead too much as most people would easily recognize the magazine just by taking a simple glance.

The typical editorial content, which is usually found in Vibe magazine, is the features and fashion. The layout of which differs from time to time but the general font size usually remains the same.
