For the pre-production of the magazine, I created a list of the equipment that I would need. By doing this it meant that I was prepared and organized to carry out the production of my music magazine, I was able to ensure that I had all the software and hardware that was required and make sure that the equipment or venues that were needed were booked in advance.
There was two stages which I needed to consider this was the photo shoot and the editing, for the photo shoot I needed:-
• Digital Camera
• Actors/Actress to pose for the shoot
• Makeup to enhance models features
• Specific clothing which would suit the genre
• Props such as jewelry
There was also a range of software which I used during the production process, this included Photoshop which I used in order to edit my images that I had taken. The reason for editing my pictures was to ensure that they fit in well with the codes and conventions of the genre which I had picked which was R&B. it also gave me the chance to key out the background where needed and try and cover up any mistakes which I had made whilst carrying out the photo shoot- i.e. Equipment left visible in the background of the shoot.
Overall the main purpose of this stage was to make the images look as professional as possible.
The software was very reliable and I found it very easy to use- also due to previous experience. Also I not only used it to edit images but also to edit some parts of the text which I had added onto the front cover in order to make it stand out.
Other software which I used included In-Design which I used to create mockup plans of my magazine; this enabled me to become familiar with the software and the tools which can be used on there. After having a bit of practice and making a few drafts I had then also made my final version of my magazine using In-Design. I thought the software was ideal for the task which I was carrying out and would consider using it again in the future.
I used internet explorer and vibe magazines in order to carry out research to help me put my magazine together.
